Caravan lvl. 1.

Caravan lvl. 2 has 2 camels ready for a new mission.

Caravan is a building in Territory. Caravan unlocks after the Bridge is built. The caravan travels along the Silk Road for rare goods. With each upgrade of the Caravan the caravan size increases, which means it can bring more goods with each trip/mission. Caravan can be upgraded to maximum lvl. 4. To build Caravan, you are required to have character lvl. 30.

There is a camel outside the tent whenever the caravan is not on a mission. Just after returning from a mission, there is an additional camel icon above the tent.

Caravan missions

Caravan mission/destination selection.

The caravan travels to a city and back. The caravan can only go to one city at a time and it can only traded with that city.

How to send the caravan on a mission

To send the caravan on a mission, a destination city has to be chosen first. Depending on the size (level) of the caravan, you may then select up to 4 items you want to purchase and up to 4 items you want to sell in the destination city. If expenses are greater than income, you must have enough Dinars in warehouse to cover the difference, or the caravan won't go. If income is greater than expenses, the surplus of Dinars will be added to your warehouse when the mission has ended.

Travel time can be reduced with Cameleer in Character > Skills.

Caravan on a mission.

Successful mission info box (items to sell were more valuable then items to purchase, thus extra Dinars).

Failed mission info box (all items in the caravan were lost, there is some compensation).

Caravan cannot undergo an upgrade while on a mission - and can't go on a mission while being upgraded. Remaining mission time can be checked anytime by clicking on the Caravan building (or in Office). There is also an option to reduce mission time using Dates by clicking the Green plus in barrel.png (green plus in the barrel icon) in the top right corner.

Delhi

After half of the travel time to Delhi has passed, the timer stops and a yellow exclamation mark appears.

When clicked on the Caravan, it says that you need to solve a puzzle (not less than 15x15).

Delhi is very different from other cities. Delhi doesn't require Rubies, Coins and Paper to be unlocked; it requires Olive oil, Glass and Honey, which you can get by trading with other cities. Delhi also doesn't accepts Dinars, which means you have to barter (exchange goods for other goods). If the total amount of items you want to sell exceeds the price of Spices (150 Dinars), the caravan will return with the extra Dinars. You can't sell items which are worth less than 150 Dinars. This means that you can't trade with Delhi with only Caravan lvl. 2. Delhi is also similar to Spicy Odyssey in a sense that you have to solve a puzzle (not less than 15x15) in the middle of the mission. If the caravan travels 16h to Delhi, the timer will stop after 8h until you solve a puzzle.

Closed cities

Three unlocked cities, one of which is closed and can't be traded with.

A city can be closed due to bad weather conditions Bad weather conditions.png (black cloud with lightnings). "Weather" status is updated every 12 hours, at the same time as the shop (4:00 and 16:00 UTC), also after the caravan returns. If a city is closed, you can't trade with that city (either buy or sell), but you can still be trade with other cities.

Speculation: Up to one half of all unlocked cities can be closed.

Items

Some items can only be bought and some can only be sold on caravan missions. The Silk Road only accepts Dinars (at least so far), so items in the table below are valued in Dinars. Values are accurate for one piece of that item.

Item Sell value Buy value
Ruby.png Ruby 55 -
Gold ingot.png Gold ingot 25 -
Treasure.png Treasure 50 45
Pearl.png Pearl 30 -
Spices.png Spices 50 150
Tuna.png Tuna 20 -
Paper.png Paper 30 30
Silk.png Silk 35 35
Dates.png Dates 35 30
Olive oil.png Olive oil 45 40
Glass.png Glass 40 35
Honey.png Honey 55 50
Level 1 artifact 50 -
Level 2 artifact 60 -
Level 3 artifact 70 -
Level 4 artifact 80 -

Note: Dinars cannot be used to buy Spices in Delhi. They can only be bought in exchange for 150 Dinars worth of Olive oil, Glass, or Honey.

Chances of a robbery

The caravan can get robbed. The percentage is shown in the Caravan (see "Caravan mission/destination selection." image). You can reduce the chances of a robbery by 12% with each level of the Outpost and another 12% by crafting the Guild banner.

Chances of a robbery in %
City Default Outpost lvl. 1 Outpost lvl. 2 Outpost lvl. 3 Guild banner
Beijing 20% 8% 0% 0% 0%
Xian 24% 12% 0% 0% 0%
Delhi 28% 16% 4% 0% 0%
Baghdad 32% 20% 8% 0% 0%
Cairo 36% 24% 12% 0% 0%
Athens 40% 28% 16% 4% 0%
Rome 44% 32% 20% 8% 0%
Moscow 48% 36% 24% 12% 0%

The table above represents how Outpost and Guild banner craftifact affect the percentages of a robbery per city. This table assumes that you first build all levels of the Outpost and then craft the Guild banner. If you have Outpost lvl. 2 and the Guild banner, you would have to look at the 5th column in the table in order to see the correct values, because all levels of the Outpost and Guild banner give 12% each.

Compensation rewards

The compensation reward is the same for all cities: 4-7 x Arrows.png.

Trivia

Silk Road is based on a real network of routes connecting the East and the West from the 2nd century BCE to the 18th century CE (see Silk Road on Wikipedia).
