Caravan is a building in Territory. Caravan unlocks after Bridge lvl. 1 is built. Caravan unlocks trips to cities on the Silk Road for rare items. Every level adds one additional slot for trading. Caravan can be upgraded to maximum lvl. 4. To build Caravan lvl. 1, character lvl. 30 is required.

Caravan missions[]
Caravan mission/city selection.
To send the caravan on a mission, a destination city has to be chosen first. Depending on the size (level) of the caravan, the player can then select up to 4 items they want to purchase and up to 4 items they want to sell in the chosen city. If expenses are greater than income, the player must have enough Dinars in warehouse to cover the difference, or the caravan won't go. If income is greater than expenses, the surplus of Dinars will be added to player's warehouse when the mission has ended (successfully). If the player has enough Dinars and they want to buy with just Dinars, select no items and just tap "Send".
Caravan cities[]
Every item can be used to trade for the items in every other city, except the city which sells that item. For example: Paper (from Beijing) cannot be used to buy Paper in Beijing! A big exception is Delhi (see below for details).
There is a camel/are camels outside the tent whenever the caravan is not on a mission. Just after returning from a mission, there is an additional camel icon above the tent.
Caravan on a mission. An image can be seen on the left which represent the city the caravan is travelling to.
Caravan cannot undergo an upgrade while on a mission - and can't go on a mission while being upgraded. Remaining mission time can be checked anytime by clicking on the Caravan building (or in Office).
Delhi[]
Delhi is very different from other cities. Delhi doesn't require Rubies, Coins and Paper to be unlocked; it requires Olive oil, Glass and Honey, which can only be acquired by trading with other cities AND it also requires the Spicy Odyssey quest to be completed (basically Ship lvl. 4). Delhi also doesn't accept Dinars, which means the player has to barter (exchange goods for other goods). If the total amount of items to sell exceeds the price of Spices (110 Dinars), the caravan will return with the extra Dinars (unless its robbed). The caravan will not leave with items which are worth less than 110 Dinars. This means that Caravan lvl. 2 is required. Delhi is also similar to Spicy Odyssey in a sense that the player has to solve a puzzle (not less than 15x15) in the middle of the mission. If the caravan travels 16h to Delhi, the timer will stop after 8h until the player solves a puzzle.
After half of the travel time to Delhi has passed, the timer stops and a yellow exclamation mark appears.
When clicked on the Caravan, it says that you need to solve a puzzle (not less than 15x15).
The table below shows mission times and their reduced times. The percentage reduction can be calculated by adding all reduction boosts the player has, which are listed above. Times in bold are for easier navigation.

Closed cities[]
Three unlocked cities, one of which is closed and can't be traded with.
Selecting a closed city: "This city is temporarily not trading.".
A city can be closed, which is indicated with (black cloud with lightning bolts). The status is updated every 12 hours, at the same time as the shop (05:00 and 17:00 local time), and also after the caravan returns. The closure of cities is random. The icon for closed cities implies a cataclysm of any kind, war, crop failure, hurricane, etc.
Cities can only be closed, after 2 or more cities are unlocked. At most 2 cities can be closed simultaneously. There is always at least one city open. When 2 cities are unlocked, the odds of one city being closed are 19%. (1.5 / 8 = 0.1875. A city can be closed even, if it's not unlocked yet.)
If a city is closed, the caravan can't be sent to that city, but can still be sent elsewhere.
Two Outpost technologies reduce the probability of closed cities. Optional contracts technology reduces the probability that a city will be unable to trade to no more than 1 city at a time. Futures contracts technology makes all cities open for trade all the time. i.e. the probability of a closed city is reduced to 0%.
When a city is unlocked, it is open (can be traded with). But upon exiting and reentering the Caravan building, the recently unlocked city can be closed (other cities' statues remain the same).

Items[]
Some items can only be bought and some can only be sold on caravan missions. The Silk Road only accepts Dinars, so items in the table below are valued in Dinars. Values are accurate for one piece of that item. Spices in Delhi can only be bought in exchange for 110 Dinars worth of Olive oil, Glass, and/or Honey. No other items (not even Dinars) are accepted in Delhi, but change in Dinars is returned if more than 110 Dinars worth is sent.

Chances of a robbery[]
Successful mission info box (items to sell were more valuable then items to purchase, thus extra Dinars).
Failed mission info box (all items in the caravan were lost, there is some compensation).
The caravan can get robbed. The percentage is shown in the Caravan (see "Caravan mission/destination selection." image). You can reduce the chances of a robbery by 12% with each level of the Outpost and another 12% by crafting the Guild banner.

The table above represents how Outpost and Guild banner craftifact affect the percentages of a robbery per city. This table assumes that all levels of the Outpost have been built and the Guild banner has been crafted. If a player has only Outpost lvl. 2 and the Guild banner, see the 5th column in the table in order to see the correct values, because all levels of the Outpost and Guild banner give 12% each.
Compensation rewards[]
The compensation reward is the same for all cities: 4-7 x.
Trivia[]
An image of Spices is not shown in the building's description, because it can be misleading for beginners.
The tent of the Caravan doesn't increase with levels, only camels are added.
Silk Road is based on a real network of routes connecting the East and the West from the 2nd century BCE to the 18th century CE (see Silk Road on Wikipedia).
