You can get artifacts by going on expeditions. There are 20 artifacts in total, 5 of each level (1 through 4). Level 1 artifacts are only obtained by completing lvl. 1 expeditions, lvl. 2 artifacts from level 2 expeditions and so on. The chance to find an artifact on an expedition is 60%. Once you own an artifact, you can still get the same artifact by going on expeditions. Currently, surplus artifacts do not give any bonuses, but can be sold in Shop. However, finding duplicate artifacts can be used to satisfy quest requirements (such as Shogun's Katana Chapter II's requirement for a lvl. 3 artifact). Pirate hat, Ship in a bottle and Black pearl can only be found by completing the Shogun's Katana quests.

Extra artifacts[]

Artifacts can only be acquired by going on expeditions. By going on expeditions you can get extra artifacts (duplicates). Duplicates do not give any bonuses and can be sold in Shop. Artifacts can also be sold on caravan missions. All levels of extra artifacts have the same storage capacity.

Sell value of duplicates in Shop and Caravan
Artifact Value (Shop) Value (Caravan)
Level 1 artifact Coin x 50 Dinar x 50
Level 2 artifact Coin x 60 Dinar x 60
Level 3 artifact Coin x 70 Dinar x 70
Level 4 artifact Coin x 80 Dinar x 80

Collecting all artifacts[]

In order to collect all 5 artifacts from the same level of an expedition, the player must first get an artifact (60%) and it must also not be duplicate (100% for the first artifact, 80% for the second, etc.). If we simulate completing expeditions (with a random distribution), we get this chart:

Collecting artifacts

Histogram of 10,000 simulated sets of expeditions, which resulted in collecting all 5 artifacts. On the X axis are graphed how many expeditions it took to collect all 5 artifacts. On the Y axis are graphed how many simulations gave that result.

On average it should take the player about 19 expeditions to collect all 5 artifacts. There is only a ~0.3% chance that all 5 artifacts will be collected in the first 5 expeditions. There's also technically a chance (although very unlikely) that a player never collects all artifacts. There's a 12% chance of getting a specific artifact (so be patient, the odds are on your side). The player can also apply Curry and increase your odds of getting the last artifact from 12% to 20%.

Trivia[]

  • Before acquiring an artifact a shadow of a treasure chest can be seen in it's place. This shadow is layered on top of the shadow of the actual artifact - so every artifacts' shadow is a little different.
  • Scarabs were popular amulets and impression seals in ancient Egypt. They were usually made out of stone carved in the form of a scarab beetle, glazed with color(s) and then fired. [1]

  • Eye of Horus is a concept and symbol in ancient Egyptian religion that represents well-being, healing, and protection. Horus was a god and his eyes were the sun and the moon. [3]
  • Hannya mask is a mask used in Japanese Noh theater, representing a jealous female demon. [4]
  • Templar helm is a helmet of a knight, who is part of the Templar order. The Templars was a Catholic military order, who were wealthy and existed in the Middle Ages. [5]
  • Turquoise skull might refer to "calavera" (Spanish for "skull"), which is edible or decorative made (usually by hand) from either sugar or clay that are used in the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead. [6]
  • Dancing Shiva or "Nataraja" is a depiction of the Hindu god Shiva as the divine cosmic dancer - a lord of dance. [7]
