A series is made of nonograms made by the same author and has a common theme (name). Combining nonograms into series is done by an algorithm. The algorithm only looks at the name of nonograms, so the author has to name their nonograms similarly, in order for the algorithm to combine them into a series. The series must contain at least 5 nonograms - either all black-and-white or all coloured and be rated above 3.1 Shurikens (i.e. not in Unrecognized Masterpieces and/or in Not Yet Approved). The series is named and categorized by the common name and categories it has (prioritizes words in parentheses). Be aware that series are also always categorized by colour. If nonograms are tagged with "Designs, Patterns, Mandalas, Symmetry", 10 nonograms are required to make a series. Avoid emojis and non Latin letters in names for series. The nonograms do not have to be in the same category. In this case the series will have the prevailing category.

Below are listed examples of nonograms' titles, which are accepted by the algorithm. These may not be the only ones, but are by far the most common. The translation of a nonogram's title is omitted in some examples.

  • Example 1 - name with a number (with or without a space between the name and number; any numbers will do (e.g. 12, 3, 43)):

Renaming nonograms[]

If the algorithm is not accepting player's nonograms as a series, the player will have to rename them. Currently it's so, that renaming nonograms in My Nonograms only works locally (i.e. only the player can see it), but not on the server. Renaming nonogram on server can be done by asking Ucdevs to rename them by leaving a comment under the nonogram(s) concerned, tagging @ucdevs or @ucmod (moderator) with the new name title or subtitle (translation).

Example of a comment:

@ucdevs can you please rename this puzzle's (so the algorithm can make it into a series)?
New title: Geocaching Container Medium
New subtitle: Geocaching
