Train is a building in Territory. Train unlocks after Train Station lvl. 1 is built. Train allows to trade/buy items from various cities in Japan. Every level adds new cities the train can travel to. Train can be upgraded to maximum lvl. 2. To build Train lvl. 1, character lvl. 50 is required.
Unlocks cities the train can travel to: Nagasaki, Osaka, Wakayama, Kyoto.

Carriages
Train carriages/wagons are required for the train to be able to travel to other cities. There are 2 types of carriages: freight and passenger. The freight carriages transport items, while passenger carriages transport people. With each freight carriage, 2 items can be traded (2 for buying and 2 for selling) - 4 for buying and 4 for selling at maximum level. With each passenger carriage, more Coins can be collected. The further the train has to travel the more Coins are collected.

Allows to trade items from cities. Capacity: 2 items.
Technologies are additional researches conducted in various buildings in order to unlock certain new crafting possibilities, improve existing crafting options, increase passive income, increase warehouse capacity or get some other benefit. Once resources are supplied to start learning a technology, another technology cannot be chosen in the same building until the current one is completed. Technologies can't be learnt while the building is "producing" (crafting, sailing, etc.). While the technology is being developed, the building can't be used unless it can be accessed via tabs. Technologies can be learnt only when building is at maximum level. Technologies in the screen are indicated with different colors based on their status:
blue - already learned;
black - available but not yet learned;
gray - not yet available, because the prerequisites to learn them are missing.
Requires completing the quest: Once Upon a Forest Chapter XI: Back to Melbourne.
Train missions[]
After Train lvl. 1 is built, it needs a carriage before being able to be sent anywhere. The passenger carriage allows to collect coins from passengers (i.e. Coin "production"; similar to Ship: Trading route). The farther the destination the more Coins the train makes. The freight carriage allows to trade resources with different cities in Japan. 2 items can be bought/traded for per carriage level. The value of each item is different than the one from the Caravan or the Shop.
The train can't take mixed carriages on a mission (i.e. one freight and one passenger carriage).
Train interface - freight carriage.
Train interface - passenger carriage.
Production time can not be reduced with any skill in Character > Skills, but it can be reduced with technologies by 5-25% depending on how many technologies are researched or with projects by 10% at maximum project level or with Dates, Soy sauce, Chemicals, etc. (only one at a time) by 20% by selecting the (green plus in the barrel icon) in the top right corner of the building's menu. Times shown in the table are reduced times, where the buff was active for the whole duration. A new boost can be added within the 2 hours before the previous boost expires to extend the boosted production time, but only 1 hour of reduction time is added to the extended the boosted production time.
The table below shows mission times and their reduced times. The percentage reduction can be calculated by adding all reduction boosts the player has, which are listed above. Times in bold are for easier navigation.

Engineman[]
The train has an Engineman, which takes care of the train and can levelled up. After each trip the Engineman gains XP. Each level reduces the amount of repairs the train needs during the trip. At maximum Engineman level (level 10), the train won't break. The train can break, which requires a repair. At any point of the journey the train can break, which is not noted anywhere - this makes it hard to plan train missions. To make a repair a puzzle has to be solved (sometimes a 5x5, sometimes a 10x10, or a 15x15).
How experience is calculated:
33,33 XP per hour of the (base) trip duration (e.g. Nagasaki = 10 hours = 333 XP)
50 XP per repair (nonogram size doesn't matter)
To level up the Engineman to lvl. 10, it takes roughly 2 months (without boosting production).

Trivia[]
Train was teased with mosaic #13 in the previous game update.
The "Class: JGR 7100" refers to a Japanese steam locomotive used around year 1900.[1]
The "Type: 2-6-0 Mogul" refers to the wheel arrangement of the locomotive. It has 2 leading wheels on one axle, which help the locomotive turning and 6 coupled wheels on 3 axles, which power the locomotive. This 2-6-0 arrangement of wheels is also called a Mogul.[2]
